So, let me start by telling you how much I LOVE this topic!
I am absolutely obsessed with buying
new—and used—books (like and good bookworm would be), so I can only imagine how
fantastic it would be if I was turned loose in a bookstore with an unlimited
budget! Because of the extensive list of all the books I would love to own, I
knew as soon as I heard about this topic that I would have to find a way to
slim the options down a bit. So, I’ve decided to list books by some of my
favorite authors that I haven’t yet read but am dying to, and owning them would
just make it that much easier. Well, let’s get to that list!
The Huntress of Thornbeck
Forest by Melanie Dickerson
A beautiful maiden who poaches to
feed the poor. A handsome forester on a mission to catch her. Danger and love
are about to unite in Thornbeck Forest.
The margrave owns the
finest hunting grounds for miles around—and Odette Menkels spends her nights
poaching his deer to feed the hungry orphans of Thornbeck. By day, Odette is a
simple maiden who teaches children to read, but by night this young beauty has
become the secret lifeline to the poorest of the poor.
For Jorgen Hartman,
the margrave’s forester, tracking down a poacher is a duty he is all too
willing to perform. Jorgen inherited his post from the man who raised him…a man
who was murdered at the hands of a poacher.
When Jorgen and Odette
meet at the Midsummer festival and share a connection during a dance, neither
has any idea that they are already adversaries.
The one man she wants
is bound by duty to capture her; the one woman he loves is his cunning target…What
becomes of a forester who protects a notorious poacher? What becomes of a
poacher when she is finally discovered?
Like Never Before by
Melissa Tagg
Like Never Before is the second book in Melissa’s Walker Family series, coming after From the Start.
A dying newspaper. An intriguing mystery.
And a love they didn’t see coming.
Maple Valley became
Amelia Bentley’s haven after her heart and her dreams of a family were
shattered. But her new life as a newspaper editor is shaken when the small-town
paper is in danger of closing. Her one hope: a lead on an intriguing story that
just might impress the new publisher…if only she knew who he was.
After his biggest
campaign success yet, widowed speechwriter Logan Walker now has the chance of a
lifetime—a spot on a presidential campaign. But his plans are interrupted when
he finds out he’s inherited his hometown newspaper. He travels home intent on
selling the paper and spending some much-needed time with his young daughter
before making the leap into national politics.
But instead of a quick
sale and peaceful break from his hectic career, Logan finds himself helping
Amelia chase her story. She’s scrappy, but wounded. He’s dependable, but lost. They
may butt heads more than expected, but a series of leads on Maple Valley’s
quirky unsolved mystery is just the start of the sparks that fly in the office
and in their hearts.
The Heiress of
Winterwood by Sarah E. Ladd
The Heiress of Winterwood is the first book in Sarah’s Whispers on the Moors series.
Amelia Barrett gave her word. Keeping
it could cost her everything.
Amelia Barrett,
heiress to an estate nestled in the English moors, defies family expectations
and promises to raise her dying friend’s baby. She’ll risk everything to keep
her word—even to the point of proposing to the child’s father—a sea captain she’s
never met.
When the child
vanishes with little more than an ominous ransom note hinting at her
whereabouts, Amelia and Graham are driven to test the boundaries of their love
for this little one.
Amelia’s detailed
plans would normally see her through any trial, but now, desperate and shaken,
she’s forced to examine her soul and face her one weakness: pride.
Graham’s strength and
self-control have served him well and earned him much respect, but chasing
perfection has kept him a prisoner of his own discipline. And away from the
family he has sworn to love and protect.
Both must learn to
have faith and relinquish control so they can embrace the future ahead of them.
Just Between You and
Me by Jenny B. Jones
The only thing scarier than
living on the edge is stepping off it.
Maggie Montgomery lives
a life of adventure. Her job as a cinematographer takes her from one exotic
locale to the next. When Maggie’s not working, she loves to rappel off cliffs
or go skydiving. Nothing frightens her.
Nothing, that is, except
Ivy, Texas, where a family emergency pulls her back home to a town full of bad
memories, painful secrets, and people Maggie left far behind…for a reason.
Forced to stay longer
than she intended, Maggie finds her family a complete mess, including the niece
her sister has abandoned. Ten-year-old Riley is struggling in school and out of
control at home. The only person who can really handle the pint-sized
troublemaker is Conner, the local vet and Ivy’s most eligible bachelor. But Conner
and Maggie keep butting heads—he’s suspicious of her and well, she doesn’t rely
on anyone but herself.
As Maggie humorously
fumbles her way from one mishap to another, she realizes she’s going to need to
ask for help from the one person who scares her the most.
To save one little
girl—and herself—can Maggie let go of her fears and just trust God?
A Flight of Arrows by
Lori Benton
A Flight of Arrows is the second book in Lori’s The Pathfinders series, coming after The Wood’s Edge.
Hearts are divided. Loyalties will
be tested. The fates of two families hang in the balance.
Twenty years past, in
1757, a young Redcoat, Reginald Aubrey stole a newborn boy—the lighter-skinned
of Oneida twins—during the devastating fall of Fort William Henry and raised
him as his own.
No one connected to Reginald
escaped unscathed from this crime. Not his adopted daughter Anna. Not Stone
Thrower, the Native American father determined to get his son back. Not Two
Hawks, William’s twin brother separated since birth, living in the shadow of
his absence and hoping to build a future with Anna. Nor Lydia, who longs for
Reginald to be free from his self-imposed emotional prison and embrace God’s
forgiveness—and her love.
Now William, whose
identity has been shattered after discovering the truth of his birth, hides in
the ranks of an increasingly aggressive British army. The Redcoats prepare to
attack frontier New York and the Continentals, aided by Oneida warriors
including Two Hawks, rally to defend it. As the Revolutionary War penetrates
the Mohawk Valley, two families separated by culture, united by love and faith,
must find a way to reclaim the son marching toward them in the ranks of their
enemies.
The Seaside Letters
by Denise Hunter
The Seaside Letters is the third book in Denise’s Nantucket Love Story series, coming
after Surrender Bay and The Convenient Groom.
“No matter where you are or how
long until we can be together, I’ll keep searching for you.”—Tucker
Sabrina never intended
to fall in love with Tucker McCabe, the man she serves coffee to every morning
at a Nantucket café—especially since he’s unwittingly tied to a past she deeply
regrets. A past that is so riddled with mistakes, it has separated her from
God. But she’s fallen hard and isn’t sure how long she can hide her feelings.
When Tucker learns
Sabrina is the research assistant for a local mystery writer, he asks Sabrina
to help him with a little sleuthing of his own…locating an elusive woman he’s
fallen for online.
If Sabrina accepts the
job, she’ll spend her evenings in close proximity to a man who can never be
hers. If she turns him down, he’ll hire someone else—and that would be a
disaster. Because if someone else sifts through all those letter and finds out
the truth, Tucker will discover her secret…that the person he’s trying to find
is her.
My Stubborn Heart by
Becky Wade
Kate Donovan is burned
out on work, worn down by her dating relationships, and in need of an
adventure. When her grandmother asks her to accompany her to Redbud,
Pennsylvania, to restore the grand old house she grew up in, Kate jumps at the
chance.
Upon her arrival in
Redbud, Kate meets Matt Jarreau, the man hired to renovate the house. Kate can’t
help being attracted to him, drawn by both his good looks and something else
she can’t quite put her finger on. He’s clearly wounded—hiding from people,
from God, and from his past. Yet Kate sets her stubborn heart on bringing him
out of the dark and back into the light…whether he likes it or not.
When the stilted,
uncomfortable interactions between Kate and Matt slowly shift into something
more, is God finally answering the longing of her heart? Or will Kate be
required to give up more than she ever dreamed?
A Bride Most
Begrudging by Deeanne Gist
Do you believe in love at first fight?
Any ship arriving from
England means good news or Virginia colony farmers. The “tobacco brides” would
be on board—eligible women seeking a better life in America, bartered for with
barrels of tobacco from the fields.
Drew O’Connor isn’t
stirred by news of a ship full of brides. Still broken-hearted from the loss of
his beloved, he only wants a maid to tend his house and care for his young
sister.
What he ends up with
is a wife—a feisty redhead who claims she is Lady Constance Morrow, daughter of
an Earl, brought to America against her will. And she wants to go straight back
to England as soon as she can. She hasn’t the foggiest notion how to cook,
dares to argue with her poor husband, and spends more time working on
mathematical equations than housework. What kind of a wife is that? Drew’s
Christian forbearance is in for some testing.
Headstrong and
intelligent, deeply moral but incredibly enticing, Constance turns what was
supposed to be a marriage of convenience into something most inconvenient,
indeed.
Secrets Over Sweet
Tea by Denise Hildreth Jones
Secrets can be funny things…
We think they keep us
safe, but more often than not, they spill out when we least expect and make a
mess out of everything. It’s a truth Scarlett Jo Newberry knows all too well—a truth
Grace Shepherd and Zach Craig are about to learn the hard way.
As the lives of this
boisterous pastor’s wife, polished news anchor, and beleaguered divorce attorney
intersect on the tree-lined streets of Franklin, Tennessee, scandal threatens
to topple their carefully constructed worlds. Grasping at survival, they embark
on a journey of friendship and courage, desperate to find a way back to
laughter, love, and life.
Echoes of Mercy by
Kim Vogel Sawyer
Sometimes a secret must be kept
for the truth to be revealed.
When a suspicious accident
occurs at the famous Dinsmore Chocolate Factory in Sinclair, Kansas, Caroline
Lang goes undercover as a factory worker to investigate the circumstances
surrounding the event and how the factory treats its youngest employees—the child
workers. Caroline’s fervent faith, her difficult childhood, and compassionate
heart drove her to her job as an investigator for the Labor Commission and she
is compelled to see children freed from such heavy adult responsibilities, to allow
them to pursue an education.
Oliver Dinsmore, heir
to the Dinsmore candy dynasty, has his own investigation to conduct. Posing as
a common worker known as “Ollie Moore,” he aims to find out all he can about
the family business before he takes over for his father. Caroline and Oliver
become fast friends, but tension mounts when the two find themselves at odds
about the roles of child workers. Hiding their identities becomes even more
difficult when fate brings them together over three children in desperate need.
When all is revealed, will the truth destroy the love starting to grow between
them?
