Today’s
Top Ten Tuesday is all about the books that make us laugh. I’ve tackled this
topic once before, so I’ll try not to repeat, but forgive me if there’s just a
little bit of overlap. And if you want to see my full review of one of the books, you can just click on the coral titles in the text. Anyway, I’ve picked ten books that I absolutely love,
and I can promise that they are definitely funny. So, here is my list!
Playing the Part by
Jen Turano
Playing the Part is the third book in Jen’s A Class of Their Own series, coming behind After a Fashion and In Good Company.
Lucetta Plum is an actress on the rise in
New York City, but must abandon her starring role when a fans interest turns
threatening. Lucetta’s widowed friend, Abigail Hart, seizes the opportunity to
meddle in Lucetta’s life and promptly whisks her away to safety at her eligible
grandson’s estate.
At first glance, Bram Haverstein
appears to be a gentleman of means—albeit an eccentric one—but a mysterious
career and a secret fascination with a certain actress mean there’s much more
to him than society knows.
While Lucetta has no interest in
Abigail’s matchmaking machinations, she can’t ignore the strange things going
on in Bram’s house and the secrets he hides. As the hijinks and hilarity that
Bram, Lucetta, and their friends are swept into take a more dangerous turn, can
they accept who they are behind the parts they play in time to save the day?
Love Arrives in
Pieces by Betsy St. Amant
Love Arrives in Pieces is the second of Betsy’s books about the
Varland sisters, coming after All’s Fair in Love in Cupcakes.
For so long, Stella was known for
her beauty. Now, with her heart stripped bare, she must discover who she really
is.
Former pageant queen Stella
Varland doesn’t trust beauty anymore after her divorce. Her appearance betrayed
her and led to brokenness, so instead of being beautiful, now she tries to make
beautiful things, but she always falls short. So she keeps her passion for art
to herself and focuses on her interior design work. But if she doesn’t get
another job soon, she’ll be stuck living with her parents.
Contractor Chase Taylor is
determined to live a life of no regrets after losing his fiancée. Now he lives
life at full speed, striving to see how much he can accomplish. He knows if he
slows down, he’ll fall apart. So he returns home to Bayou Bend to renovate the
town’s old theater and is shocked to discover that the designer for the project
is his old flame, Stella.
Forced to work together, Chase
and Stella battle their chemistry and past as they struggle to compromise and
work together on a vision for the theater their wills clash as they attempt to
hide their brokenness—and their unresolved feelings for each other—until Chase
discovers the hidden parts of Stella, while losing her trust in the process.
A near catastrophe, a fire, and
a small-town gossip mill finally force Stella and Chase to realize that they
have a choice—to hold on to the shards of their pasts, or surrender their
fragmented pieces to the One who makes a beautiful masterpiece from their
brokenness.
The Hearts We Mend by Kathryn Springer
The Hearts We Mend is
the second of Kathryn’s Banister Falls
novels, coming after The Dandelion Field.
Planning and Post-It notes are the epitome of Evie’s life. But when she
meets Jack, her life gets more than a little complicated.
Thirteen years ago, Evie’s
firefighter husband was killed in the line of duty, leaving her to raise their young
son, Cody, alone. Now, Cody is marrying the love of his life, and as he packs
up his belongings, the house feels as empty as Evie’s heart. But for all her
planning and mad organizational skills, Evie could never have anticipated the
dramatic shift her life is about to make.
Tattooed, rough-around-the-edges
Jack raises quite a few eyebrows in the tight-knit community of Banister Falls.
Where Evie’s life is stream-lined, Jack’s approach to living is
moment-by-moment. But as Evie gets drawn into Jack’s world—a world that isn’t
as safe or predictable as the one she’s worked so hard to create—he challenges
her to open her eyes to the problems outside the walls of the church.
Jack doesn’t make Evie feel
comfortable, but he definitely makes her feel something. Something she hasn’t
felt since Max passed away—or, maybe ever. Because even though Jack isn’t
anything like her late husband, he just might be everything she needs.
The Wishing Season by Denise Hunter
The Wishing Season
is the third book in Denise’s Chapel
Springs series, coming after Barefoot Summer and Dancing with Fireflies.
In this competition, it’s not just the house on the line, it’s their
hearts.
She has the touch when it comes
to food, but PJ McKinley’s dream of opening her own restaurant is one building
short of reality. So when a Chapel Springs resident offers her beloved
ancestral home as prize to the applicant with the best plan for the house, PJ
believes she was meant to win.
Contractor Cole Evans is
confident, professional, and swoon-worthy—but this former foster kid knows his
life could have turned out very differently. When Cole discovers the contest,
he believes his home for foster kids in transition has found its saving grace.
All he has to do is convince the owner that a not-for-profit enterprise will be
good for the community.
When the eccentric
philanthropist weighs the proposals, she proposes an outlandish tie-breaker: PJ
and Cole will share the house for a year to see which idea works best. Now,
with Cole and the foster kids upstairs and PJ and the restaurant below,
day-to-day life has turned into an out-and-out rivalry—with some seriously
flirtatious hallway encounters on the side. But could their magnetic attraction
cost them everything they’ve ever wanted?
Meant to Be Mine by Becky Wade
Meant to Be Mine is
the second book in Becky’s Porter Family
series, coming after Undeniably Yours.
Ty Porter has always been
irresistible to Celia Park. All though high school—irresistible. When their
paths cross again after college—still
irresistible. This time, though, Ty seems to feel exactly the same way about
Celia. Their whirlwind romance deposits them at a street-corner Las Vegas
wedding chapel.
The next morning they wake up to
a marriage certificate and a dose of cold reality. Celia’s ready to be Ty’s
wife, but Ty’s not ready to be her husband. He’s a professional bull rider, he
lives on the road, and he’s long planned to settle down with the hometown girl
he’s known since childhood.
Five and a half years pass.
Celia’s buried her dreams so that she can afford to raise her daughter. Ty’s
achieved all of his goals. Or thought he had, until he looks again into the
eyes of the woman he couldn’t forget and into the face of the child he never
knew he had.
How much will Ty sacrifice to
win back Celia’s trust and prove to her that their spontaneous marriage can
still become the love of a lifetime?
You’re the One That I Want by Susan May Warren
You’re the One That I Want is the sixth book in Susan’s Christiansen
Family series, coming after Take a Chance on Me, It Had to Be You, When I Fall in Love, Always on My Mind, and The Wonder of You.
Owen Christiansen has been in a downward
spiral since an injury ended his NHL career. But a job on an Alaskan crabbing
boat offers a fresh start…maybe even a shot at romance with Elise “Scotty”
McFlynn, the captain’s daughter.
Used to being one of the guys,
to never relying on anyone, Scotty doesn’t believe in happily ever
after—especially with someone like Own. Her instinct is confirmed when Casper
Christiansen arrives to drag his prodigal brother home, bringing with him a
truckload of family drama—and even worse, the news that Casper is wanted for
questioning in connection to a crime back in Minnesota.
But Owen is more than the sum of
his mistakes, a truth both he and Scotty discover when she escorts both
brothers to Deep Haven as part of her new job on the Anchorage police force.
Thrust into an unfamiliar world of family, faith, and fresh starts, Scotty
begins to see potential for a happy ending…if she’s brave enough to embrace it.
Betting on Hope by Debra Clopton
Betting on Hope is
the first book in Debra’s Four of Hearts
Ranch Romance series.
One clutzy advice columnist. One champion cowboy. And an entire small
town rooting for love.
Advice columnist Maggie Hope
never dreamed she’d be shaking hands with champion horse trainer Tru Monahan
over a high stakes bet, especially one that involves horses. And saddles. And
everything else a city girl like Maggie feels uncomfortable around. But after
filling in for a coworker and interviewing the handsome cowboy, she finds
herself doing just that. Anything to save her advice column.
Despite Maggie’s two left feet,
Tru is bound and determined to bring out her inner cowgirl by teaching her to
ride a cutting horse, trained to separate cattle from the rest of the herd.
While her riding improves, their attraction intensifies, but Tru knows he can
never let her into his heart—for her own good.
In Wishing Springs, a community
full of meddling but well-meaning townsfolk, Maggie discovers the home she’s
always longed for. But she’s holding something back—a secret that could destroy
her reputation and any future she’s ever hoped for with the cowboy she might
just love.

the first book in Margaret’s Undercover
Ladies series.

an untimely demise.
Former Texas Ranger Tom Colton
has every reason to distrust the green-eyed beauty at Miss Lillian’s who calls herself
Amy. Determined to clear his brother’s name, he’s convinced she knows more than
she lets on, and he means to find out what it is.
As Amy’s investigation
continues, her biggest problem is Tom and his stolen kiss. The closer she gets
to tracking down the outlaw, the harder it is to keep Tom from finding out the
awful truth about his brother. The Gunnysack Bandit she can handle, but it’ll
take a whole lot of faith and a little help from Miss Lillian and her girls to
snag the man who stole her heart.
How to Catch a Prince by Rachel Hauck
How to Catch a Prince is
the third book in Rachel’s Royal Weddings
series, coming after Once Upon a
Prince and Princess Ever After.
Behind him, beside
him, before him, the synchronized cathedral bells began to ring out.
One, two, three…
Then she said it first.
The words his heart burst to share. “I love you, Stephen. You are my true
prince.”
An American heiress and a crown prince seem destined to be together.
Will the devastation of war keep them apart forever?
American heiress Corina Del Rey
caught her prince once. But the tragedy of war kept her too long in a fog of
grief. Now she’s shifting her life forward, reigniting her career as a
journalist. Still, nothing can relieve her of the secret and the love she
carries in her soul.
Prince Stephen of Brighton is
one of the world’s most eligible bachelors and a star rugby player, trying to
make sense of his life. His days in Afghanistan with the Royal Air Command will
mark him forever. And he can’t seem to shake their dark shadow.
But when his brother, King
Nathaniel, confronts him with a document he thought long buried and forgotten, Stephen
is forced to face the pain of his past and the love he left behind.
With a little heavenly help,
Prince Stephen and Corina embark on a journey of truth. But when the secrets
are revealed, can they overcome and find love again?
Stealing the Preacher by Karen Witemeyer
Stealing the Preacher
is the second of Karen’s books about the Archer brothers, coming after Short-Straw Bride.
A cowboy who wants to be a preacher. An outlaw’s daughter who wants to
change his mind.
On his way to interview for a
position at a church in the Piney Woods of Texas, Crockett Archer can’t believe
it when he’s forced off the train by an outlaw and presented to the man’s daughter
as the preacher she requested for her birthday. He’s determined to escape—which
would be much easier if he could stop thinking about Joanna Robbins and her
unexpected request.
For months, Joanna had prayed
for a minister. A man to breathe life back into the abandoned church at the
heart of her community. A man to assist her in fulfilling a promise to her
dying mother. But just when it seems her prayers have been answered, it turns
out the parson is there against his will and has dreams of his own calling him
elsewhere. Is there any way she can convince Crockett he ended up right where
he was supposed to be?
