Ty Porter has always been
irresistible to Celia Park. All through high school—irresistible. When their
paths cross again after college—still
irresistible. This time, though, Ty seems to feel exactly the same way about
Celia. Their whirlwind romance deposits them at a street-corner Las Vegas
wedding chapel.
The next morning they wake to a
marriage certificate and a dose of cold reality. Celia’s ready to be Ty’s wife,
but Ty’s not ready to be her husband. He’s a professional bull rider, he lives
on the road, and he’s long planned to settle down with the hometown girl he’s
known since childhood.
Five and a half years pass.
Celia’s buried her dreams so that she can afford to raise her daughter. Ty’s
achieved all of his goals. Or thought he had, until he looks again into the
eyes of the woman he couldn’t forget and into the face of the child he never
knew he had.
How much will Ty sacrifice to
win back Celia’s trust and prove to her that their spontaneous marriage can
still become the love of a lifetime?
Meant to Be Mine is the
second book in Becky Wade’s Porter Family
series, coming after Undeniably Yours.
I absolutely melted through the first
book in this series, and I have to say, I did absolutely the same thing through
this one. Becky is one of the most talented authors I have ever encountered,
and the only reason I’m upset about how I have devoured her books is that
pretty soon, there won’t be a single one of them that I haven’t yet read. But then
that means she just should get on to writing new ones. Anyway, I fell for Celia
and Ty’s story, and the characters themselves, by the time I had read, oh I don’t
know, the first page of this book,
because this story is fabulous.
Celia
is by far one of my favorite heroines of all time. She is one amazing single
mother, though she should never have been one in the first place (but then we
wouldn’t have this heart-melting story I guess, and we can’t have that), and I cannot
help but admire her for that. Besides that, I just love everything about her. Her
quirky ways, her apparently hippie-like style, the way she always has the perfect
comebacks for everything that Ty says to her; all of them combine to make the
perfect character—and the perfect girl for Ty—and I cannot help but love her
immensely.
My
word, but Ty makes me want to melt in my boots! He is one impressive cowboy,
let me tell you that! There is just something about him, maybe his love for his
newfound daughter, maybe his affinity for Celia, I don’t know. Whatever it is,
it made me fall in love with him immediately. But, if I’m honest, I’ve always
liked the slightly bad-boy types, so I’m not surprised that I fell for him so
fast. Besides, he is—other than the first part of this book that tells what got
them into this mess in the first place—so wonderfully sweet and kind and caring
with Celia, and with Addie, and I just can’t help but love him for it.
All in
all, this story just about knocked my socks clean off before I had even made it
halfway through, though I cannot say if I liked it better than the first one or
not. I would say it is a very close tie, because both of them are completely
and utterly fabulous books that I couldn’t help but add to my all-time
favorites list. So, I also give Meant to
Be Mine all five stars, because I absolutely loved it. And I cannot wait to
read the rest of the series!
Happy
reading!
