It's Dressember!!! No, I didn't just spell December incorrectly, although it is December too. Dressember is a challenge that goes all throughout the month of December, and one I am so excited to be participating in for the first time this month! My wonderful sister, Sarah, is also participating in this challenge, and since she actually has a blog that focuses a lot on style, I thought it would be fun to invite her to guest post all about Dressember here!
Hi! I am Sarah and I blog over at Bows and Clothes which is a life, style, and beauty blog. At my blog, you will find outfit inspiration, style tips, beauty ideas, and encouragement to just be you. I enjoy music, fashion, crafts, and I love Jesus. You can follow me on Pinterest here, on Bloglovin' here, and on Twitter here.
Mackenzie has asked me to write about Dressember, so I thought I would highlight what it is about and why I am joining in on the challenge.
What is Dressember?
Dressember is an organization that fights trafficking through raising awareness. The challenge is to wear a dress every day of December to raise awareness for trafficking. Here is the mission of Dressember from their website:
Dressember uses fashion to advocate for women who've been exploited for their femininity. As women take on the creative challenge of wearing a dress for the 31 days of December, they are advocating for the inherent dignity of all women.
The Dressember Foundation exists to inspire and empower a global community of like-minded women who are locking arms to face one of the greatest injustices of our time.
THE HEART OF DRESSEMBER IS FREEDOM-- THAT EVERY WOMAN HAS THE RIGHT TO LIVE A VIBRANT AND AUTONOMOUS LIFE.
Dressember started in 2009 as a quirky style challenge and has grown to a giant movement of women wearing dresses for every day in December to raise awareness for trafficking.
Dressember has many partners like Vi Bella Jewelry, International Justice Mission, Noonday Collection, Slum Love, and Elegantees.
Most of these partners offer Dressember exclusive products where some of the profits go to the Dressember Foundation. My favorite of these exclusive products is the Dressember Dress that Elegantees offers. You can find it here. It comes in black and wine colors. It also has pockets, which for me, is a BIG plus. Also, you can use my 10% off coupon code, "BowsandClothes".
Why I am Participating?
I am participating in Dressember because I believe in freedom and I believe that everyone should be able to live a good life. I also believe that God has a beautiful plan for each and every person, and most likely, that plan can not happen without their freedom. I believe in justice and that there is way too much injustice in the world.
There are women and girls everywhere that are being abused. It takes you and me to change that. Please join me in changing that. Every dollar counts. You can donate money to my specific Dressember page which you can find here. My goal is $500. I cannot meet that goal without YOU! I encourage you to donate. It is fast, easy, and secure.
What do you think? Will you join me?
Thanks, Mackenzie, for allowing me to guest post here on your awesome blog!
Thanks, Sarah, for sharing! I am so excited to be participating in such a great cause, and I hope you will consider joining us, if not this year then maybe next year, and that you would prayerfully consider donating to Sarah's page. We can make a difference, one dollar and dress at a time!
Happy Dressember!
