Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is all about the visuals, so I’m
filling my post with some of my favorite new covers of ten books that release
this year! I feel like covers are just getting better and better as the years
go on, and this year is one of the best yet! There are so many gorgeous covers
out there so this was hard to slim down, but I think I’ve managed to get the
best ones. So far. I’m sure as soon as I turn around I’ll find another new one I
like better. But for now, here are these fantastic ones!
Bread of Angels by
Tessa Afshar
Bread of Angels is Tessa’s most recent historical novel.
Purple. The foundation of
an influential trade in a Roman world dominated by men. One woman rises up to
take the reins of success in an incredible journey of courage, grit, and
friendship. And along the way, she changes the world.
But before she was
Lydia, the seller of purple, she was simply a merchant’s daughter who loved
three things: her father, her ancestral home, and making dye. Then unbearable
betrayal robs her of nearly everything.
With only her father’s
secret formulas left, Lydia flees to Philippi and struggles to establish her
business on her own. Determination and serendipitous acquaintances—along with
her father’s precious dye—help her become one of the city’s preeminent
merchants. But fear lingers in every shadow, until Lydia meets the apostle Paul
and hears his message of hope, becoming his first European convert. Still,
Lydia can’t outrun her secrets forever, and when past and present collide, she
must either stand firm and trust in her fledgling faith or succumb to the fear
that has ruled her life.

by Jennifer Delamere
The Captain’s Daughter is the first book in Jennifer’s London Beginnings series.

circumstances beyond her control leave Rosalyn Bernay alone and penniless in
London, she chances upon a job backstage at a theater that is presenting the
most popular show in London. A talented musician and singer, she feels
immediately at home and soon becomes enthralled with the idea of pursuing a
career on the stage.
A hand injury during a
skirmish in India has forced Nate Moran out of the army until he recovers.
Filling his time at a stable of horses for hire in London, he has also spent
the past two months working nights as a stagehand, filling in for his inured
brother. Although he’s glad he can help his family through a tough time, he is
counting the days until he can rejoin his regiment. London holds bitter
memories for him that he is anxious to escape. But then he meets the beautiful
woman who has found a new lease on life in the very place Nate can’t wait to
leave behind.
Heart on the Line by
Karen Witemeyer
Heart on the Line is the second book in Karen’s Ladies of Harper’s Station series,
coming after No Other Will Do.
Grace Mallory is tired
of running, of hiding. But when an old friend sends an after-hours telegraph
transmission warning Grace that the man who has hunted her for nearly a year
has discovered her location, she fears she has no choice. She can’t let the
villain she believes responsible for her father’s death release his wrath in
Harper’s Station, the town that has sheltered her and blessed her with the
dearest friends she’s ever known.
Amos Bledsoe prefers
bicycles to horses and private conversations over the telegraph wire to social
gatherings with young ladies who see him as nothing more than an oddity. His telegraph
companion, the mysterious Miss G,
listens eagerly to his ramblings every night and delights him with tales all
her own. For months, their friendship—dare he believe, courtship?—has fed his
hope that he has finally found the woman God intended for him. Yet when he
takes the next step to meet her in person, he discovers her life is in peril,
and Amos must decide if he can shed the cocoon of his quiet nature to become
the hero Grace requires.
A Love So True by
Melissa Jagears
A Love So True is the second book in Melissa’s Teaville Moral Society series, coming after A Heart Most Certain.
Evelyn Wisely has a
heart for the orphans of Teaville and works at a local mansion that rescues
children out of the town’s red-light district and gives them a place to live.
But her desire to help isn’t limited to orphans. The owner of the mansion,
Nicholas Lowe, is willing to help her try to get the women working in
prostitution out of the district as well—if she can gain the cooperation and
support of local businessmen to go against the rest of the community.
David Kingsman has
recently arrived in Teaville from Kansas City to help with one of his father’s
companies in town. While he plans on staying only long enough to prove his
business merit to his father, he’s shown interest in Evelyn’s work and is
intrigued enough by her to lend his support to her cause.
They begin with the
best of intentions, but soon the complications pile up and Evelyn and David’s
dreams look more unattainable every day. When the revelation of a long-held
secret creates a seemingly insurmountable rift between them, can they trust God
still has a good plan for them despite all that is stacked against them?
A Name Unknown by
Roseanna M. White
A Name Unknown is the first book in Roseanna’s Shadows Over England series.
Rosemary Gresham has
no family beyond the band of former urchins that helped her survive as a girl
in the mean streets of London. Grown now, they concentrate on stealing
high-value items and have learned how to bland into upper-class society. But
when Rosemary must determine whether a certain wealthy gentleman is loyal to
Britain or to Germany, she is in for the challenge of a lifetime. How does one
steal a family’s history, their very name?
Peter Holstein, given
his family’s German blood, writes his popular series of adventure novels under
a pen name. With European politics boiling and his own neighbors suspicious of
him, Peter debates whether it might be best to change his name for good. When
Rosemary shows up at his door pretending to be a historian and offering to help
him trace his family history, his question might be answered.
But as the two work
together and Rosemary sees his gracious reaction to his neighbors’ scornful
attacks, she wonders if her assignment is going down the wrong path. Is it too
late to help him prove that he’s more than his name?

captive in a surprise Indian raid. During her captivity, Betsy faces brutality
and hardship, but also unexpected kindness. She draws strength from native
Caleb, who encourages her to find God in all circumstances. She finds herself
torn between her pious upbringing and the intense new feelings this compelling
man awakens within her.
Handsome and complex,
Hans is greatly anguished by Betsy’s captivity and turns to Tessa Bauer for
comfort. Eagerly, Tessa responds, overlooking troubling signs of Hans’s hunger
for revenge. When Betsy is finally restored to the Amish, have things gone too
far between Hans and Tessa?
Sweetbriar Cottage by
Denise Hunter
Sweetbriar Cottage is another stand-alone from Denise!
When Noah and Josephine Mitchell
discover their divorce was never actually finalized, their lives are turned
upside down.
Following his divorce,
Noah gave up his dream job, settling at a remote horse ranch in the Blue Ridge
Mountains of northern Georgia, putting much-needed distance between himself and
the former love of his life. But then Noah gets a letter from the IRS claiming
he and Josephine are still married. When he confronts Josephine for the first
time in months, they discover that she missed the final step in filing the
paperwork and they are, in fact, still married.
Josephine is no
happier about the news than Noah. Maybe the failed marriage—and okay, the
botched divorce—was her fault, but her heart was shattered right alongside his,
more than he would ever believe. The sooner they put this marriage behind them,
the better for both of their sakes.
But when Josephine
delivers the final paperwork to his ranch, the two become stranded in his
cottage during the worst spring snowstorm in a decade. Being trapped with
Josephine is a test of Noah’s endurance. He wrestles with resentment and an
unmistakable pull to his wife—still beautiful, still brave, and still more intriguing
than any woman he’s ever known.
As they find
themselves confronted with each other and their shared past, old wounds surface
and tempers flare. But when they are forced out into the storm, they must rely
on each other in a way they never have before. Josephine finally opens up about
her tragic past, and Noah realizes she’s never been loved unconditionally by
anyone—including him. Will Noah accept the challenge to pursue Josephine’s
heart? And can she finally find the courage to trust Noah?
To Wager Her Heart by
Tamera Alexander
To Wager Her Heart is the third book in Tamera’s Belle Meade Plantation series, coming
after To Whisper Her Name and To Win Her Favor.

Colorado Territory and a Southern Belle bent on breaking free from society’s
expectations find a way to work together to achieve their dreams in the new
reality of the post-Civil War South?
Seeking justice…
Sylas Rutledge, the
new owner of the Northeast Line Railroad, invests everything he has into this
venture, partly for the sake of the challenge. But mostly to clear his father’s
name. One man holds the key to Sy’s success—General William Giles Harding of
Nashville’s Belle Meade Plantation. But Harding is champagne and thoroughbreds,
and Sy Rutledge is beer and bullocks. Sy needs someone the help him maneuver
his way through Nashville’s society, and when he meets Alexandra Jamison, he
quickly decides he’s found his tutor. Only, he soon discovers that the very
train accident his father is blamed for causing is what killed Alexandra
Jamison’s fiancée—and what has broken her heart.
Struggling to restore honor…
Spurning and arranged
marriage by her father, Alexandra instead pursues her passion for teaching at
Fisk University, the first freedmen’s university in the United States. But
family—and Nashville society—do not approve, and she soon finds herself cast
out from both.
Through connections
with the Harding family, Alexandra and Sy are thrown together. And despite her
first impressions, Alexandra gradually finds herself coming to respect, and
even love this man. But how can she, when her heart is still spoken for? And
when his roguish qualities and adventuresome spirit smack more of recklessness
than responsibility and honor?
Sylas Rutledge will
risk everything to win over the woman he loves. What he doesn’t count on is
having to wager her heart to do it.
True to You by Becky
Wade
True to You is the first book in Becky’s Bradford Sisters Romance series.
After a devastating
heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora
Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far
safer than romance in the here and now.
Unlike Nora, former
Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually
100 percent in the present. But when he’s diagnosed with an inherited
condition, he’s forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as
an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.
The more time they
spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a
perfect match. However, John’s already dating someone and Nora’s not sure she’s
ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real
relationship. Finding the answers they’re seeking will test the limits of their
identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.
With You Always by
Jody Hedlund
With You Always is the first book in Jody’s Orphan Train series.
When a financial
crisis in 1850s New York leaves three orphaned sisters nearly destitute, the
oldest, Elise Neumann, knows she must take action. She’s had experience as a
seamstress, and the New York Children’s Aid Society has established a special
service: placing out seamstresses and trade girls. Even though Elise doesn’t
want to leave her sisters for a job in Illinois, she realizes this may be their
last chance.
The son of one of New
York City’s wealthiest entrepreneurs, Thornton Quincy faces a dilemma. His
father is dying, and in order to decide which of his sons will inherit
everything, he is requiring them to do two things in six months: build a
sustainable town along the Illinois Central Railroad, and get married. Thornton
is tired of standing in his twin brother’s shadow and is determined to win his
father’s challenge. He doesn’t plan on meeting a feisty young woman on his way
west, though.
