December Numbers and January Goals + A Linkup

It’s 2017!!! I don’t know how that’s possible, considering it was just 2015, but somehow it is, and that means it’s time for another year of resolutions! But this year, since I’m a little older and hopefully a little wiser, I’ve decided to cut the resolutions for a change. I never really follow through with them, and I always get disappointed when I fail, so I decided it would be a good idea to do something a little bit more achievable this year. Therefore, I’m going to continue to write these numbers and goals posts in the hope that I can get better at accomplishing them, and I’m going to attempt for the first time ever—which is weird since I’m a writer—to write a journal entry every day this year. Let’s see if I can keep these resolutions!

3 Books Read
Ordinarily, I would say that this is really very sad—and it is—but I know why the number is so low and I’m okay with that. Partially, it’s because I’ve been working a lot over the break, which was necessary since I’m completely broke and can’t work as much during the school year, and it’s also because I’ve been spending more time with my family and spending time on my other hobbies. Besides that, I’ve made the decision to get back to reading some classics for a while, so I’ll be mixing those in with the rest of my new releases from my favorite authors. Anyway, this past month I read A Beauty So Rare, The Innkeeper of Ivy Hill, and For the Record, and I both own and absolutely loved all three of them.

2 Books Purchased
Since I wasn’t sure what I would be getting for Christmas, I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on myself this past month, so I only bought the two necessities: Julie Klassen and Regina Jennings’ new releases. However, I’ve already purchased a few novels for this month, so I’m looking forward to telling you about them in my next numbers/goals post.

0 Workouts Completed
Shocker there, I know. Honestly, I doubt by now that anyone’s surprised at this sorry number. And I don’t even have any good excuses.

8 Blog Posts Published
Okay, this is a really sad number as well. My blog has been sorrowfully neglected over the past few weeks, and a part of me is sorry and knows I should do better, but another part of me knows it’s partially just because it was the holidays and you’re supposed to take a break from blogging so that you can celebrate with your family.

Now on to my goals!

Read 4 Books
I know, this is another small number, but like I said, I’m cutting down to only the books that I really want to read, and I’m adding in classics. So I’m mostly just going to read books that I preorder, some books I buy or already own, or any classics I want to re-read or read for the first time. But, I’ve already read one book for the month—in fact I read the whole thing after work yesterday—so I might even best this goal.

Purchase 6 Books
I’ve already purchased 5 books, so this goal is pretty much completed. Well, except that one additional book. I’m not really sure that I will actually buy any more, but we’ll see. Either way, 5 is a great number, and if I buy that many books every month, I’m going to run out of room waaaaay to quickly.

Complete 1 Workout a Week
I almost feel like I shouldn’t even add workouts to these posts anymore, but I’m still holding out hope that I’ll get better about working out eventually. I’m trying to add it to my list of priorities for the semester, but I just don’t know how much time I’m going to have and workouts usually end up at the bottom of the list. So we’ll see. Hopefully, I can make just one a week a big enough priority.

Publish 12 Blog Posts
This shouldn’t be difficult! I’m not going to count my “No Linkup” post, but counting this one I’ve already published 3 posts and it’s only the 9th, so I think I can accomplish this goal!

Write 31 Journal Entries
This goes along with my New Year’s resolution, but I’ve decided I want to add it here so that I can keep up with all my goals in one place. So far, I’ve written nine entries, so I’m well on my way to success! Hopefully this can be my best resolution yet!

And now on to the linkup!

FEATURES
Since we haven’t had the linkup for two consecutive weeks, I don’t actually have any features, but I’m super excited to get back into the swing of things and I can’t wait to read what all my blog friends have been up to! So count on features coming back next week!

  3. I think it's a great goal to try to write a journal entry every day. I think I would eventually like to do something like that too. And don't beat yourself up over those numbers--December is a really hard month to get anything done!
