Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is all about the books that released
in the past year that I was planning to read, but then didn’t for some reason
or other. Unfortunately, it was very easy
for me to find ten novels for this list because there were quite a few books I was
planning on reading this past year but because college is extremely time
consuming, I didn’t get around to far more of them than I would’ve liked. So,
here are ten of the many releases I didn’t get to read this past year!
The Courtship Basket
by Amy Clipston
The Courtship Basket is the second book in Amy’s Amish Heirloom series, coming after The Forgotten Recipe.
Years ago, a picnic basket
brought two hearts together. For Rachel and Mike, history may be about to
repeat itself.
Rachel Fisher is
devastated when the young man she’s loved for years leaves her to date her best
friend. Her heart is broken, and she has all but given up on love. Determined to
keep her mind off the pain, she starts teaching at an Amish school for children
with learning disabilities.
Since his father
became ill, Mike Lantz has been overwhelmed with the responsibility of
providing for his family and caring for his six-year-old brother, John. When John
joins Rachel’s class and she learns that his mother is deceased and his father
sick, she desperately wants to help the family, even with something as simple
as a meal.
With her parents’ old
picnic basket, Rachel begins sending food to the Lantz family. As the weeks go
by, John’s grades start to improve, and the attraction grows between Rachel and
Mike. They can’t deny that their friendship is growing toward something more, but
both of them are hesitant to risk a more serious relationship.
The last thing Rachel
wants is another heartbreak, and Mike is worried about providing for his loved
ones. Will the two be able to reconcile their past hurts with new hope for the
future?

the Hebrews, Kiya finds herself reliant on a strange God and drawn to a man who
despises her people. With everything she’s ever known swept away and now facing
the trials of the desert, will she turn back toward Egypt or surrender her life
and her future to Yahweh?
A Spy’s Devotion by
Melanie Dickerson
A Spy’s Devotion is the first book in Melanie’s Regency Spies of London series.
In England’s Regency
era, manners and elegance reign in public life—but behind closed doors treason
and deception thrive. Nicholas Langdon is no stranger to reserved civility or
bloody barbarity. After suffering a battlefield injury, the wealthy,
well-connected British officer returns home to heal—and to fulfill a dying
soldier’s last wish by delivering his coded diary.
At the home of the
Wilherns, one of England’s most powerful families, Langdon attends a lavish
ball where he meets their beautiful and intelligent ward, Julia Grey. Determined
to maintain propriety, he keeps his distance—until the diary is stolen and all
clues lead to Julia’s guardian. As Langdon traces an evil plot that could be
the nation’s undoing, he grows ever more intrigued by the lovely young woman. And
when Julia realizes that England—and the man she is falling in love with—need her
help, she finds herself caught in the fray. Will the two succumb to their
attraction while fighting to save their country?
An Unbroken Heart by
Kathleen Fuller
An Unbroken Heart is the second book in Kathleen’s Amish of Birch Creek series, coming
after A Reluctant Bride.
An argument. A crash. In an
instant, Joanna’s world is changed forever.
One minute, Joanna
Schrock was arguing with her parents, and the next, her parents’ lives were
claimed in a hit-and-run buggy accident. Her body is broken, but her heart is
in even deeper pain—after all, how do you cope with your parents’ deaths when
your last words were spoken in anger?
After an extended
stint in a physical rehabilitation center, Joanna re-enters her Amish life. But
nothing is the same—not even her feelings for Andrew Beiler.
Joanna has loved
Andrew since the age of twelve, and her feelings have not changed throughout
the years. She is thrilled when Andrew wants to get married, but she wonders
whether it’s love he’s feeling, or pity. As the couple’s wedding date
approaches, Joanna isn’t overcome with the deep joy she was hoping to feel;
instead, she’s wracked with anxiety and guilt.
Joanna hears God
whispering to her, Be strong and courageous, but she’s afraid that courage looks a lot like walking away from her
dreams and into the plan of her Heavenly Father.
If Joanna takes the
first step toward healing, will it cost her everything she’s ever wanted? Or could
God be changing the desires of her heart?
A Sister’s Wish by
Shelley Shepard Gray
A Sister’s Wish is the third book in Shelley’s The Charmed Amish Life series, coming after A Son’s Vow and A Daughter’s Dream.
Amelia Kinsinger is
the perfect Amish woman—at least according to her neighbors. And while Amelia
takes pride in her role as homemaker, she’s also harboring a secret: she’s been
in love with bad boy Simon Hochstetler for as long as she can remember. Too bad
he’s about as far from “perfect” as an Amish man could get…but that’s exactly
why she’s so drawn to him.
Life hasn’t been kind
to Simon. He ran away from an abusive home at fifteen and things went downhill
from there. Eventually, Simon landed in prison. But the experience changed him.
Now back in Charm as a grown man, he’s determined to make a new life for
himself and not think too much about his wild past…unless it pertains to
Amelia.
He’s loved Amelia for
years. To him, she represents everything good and kind in the world. When he
realizes that she returns his affections, he starts calling on her in secret,
even though her older brother Lukas—who just happens to be Simon’s best friend—has
made it perfectly clear that Amelia deserves better. Simon disagrees and
believes he’s the only one who can truly make her happy.
But when Amelia gets
hurt, it sets off a chain of events that forces them to consider their future
together—and face their past mistakes. There’s a chance for love…but only if
Simon dares to trust Amelia with the secrets of his past.

ends up in the poorhouse herself. Her best chance at a financially secure future
is to impress the politician courting her, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that
his mother is the moral society’s president. Lydia’s first task as a moral
society member—to obtain a donation from Nicholas Lowe, the wealthiest man in
town—seems easy…until the man flat-out refuses.

Nicholas wants to help others but prefers to do it his own way, keeping his
charity private. When Lydia proves persistent, they agree to a bargain, though Nicholas

Change of Heart by
Courtney Walsh
Change of Heart is the second book in Courtney’s Paper Hearts series, coming after Paper Hearts.

wife, Evelyn Brandt seems to have it all. But her carefully constructed life
comes toppling down when the FBI crashes her society brunch with the news that
her husband has been arrested for embezzlement, and he’s far from repentant. It
turns out this was only the start of his indiscretions—for which he has little
regret.
As the weeks following
the scandal turn into months, Evelyn withdraws, even shirking her duties with
the philanthropic Valentine Volunteers. The inquisitive women of the group are
determined not to let Evelyn’s divorce destroy her. They have big plans for her
to use her long-forgotten artistic talent to reimagine the city’s iconic
lamppost hearts. But doing so will force Evelyn to work closely with Trevor
Whitney, her ex-husband’s former best friend. Though she and Trevor used to be
close—and he’s been letting her hide in his guesthouse—his gruffness conveys
his unease with the situation.
Amid the beauty of
Trevor’s farm and the comfort of a paintbrush, Evelyn starts to reclaim the
dreams she sacrificed to become the perfect politician’s wife. And as
creativity inspires them both, Whit begins to see the girl he fell in love with
before his friend—and his own mistakes—stole his chance. Possibilities for a
new beginning emerge, but long-kept secrets threaten to ruin everything. After so
much time, is a change of heart too much to hope for?
