I can’t
believe it’s already May! Although I am so glad that it is, it doesn’t feel
possible that it is already this late in the year! It feels like it was just
New Year’s, and yet, here we are, with summer fast approaching and warmer
weather upon us. Here’s what I’m currently up to this May!
Celebrating: I’m
celebrating that I’m finally on summer break! I’ve worked so hard on homework
and class assignments for what seems like forever, so I’m so glad to finally
have a lengthy break stretching before me. There are no limits to all of the
things I can accomplish!
Reading: I’m
actually reading all kinds of different books lately, some good, some bad. This
past weekend, I finished both The Photograph by Beverly Lewis and Song of Silence by Cynthia Ruchti. I really enjoyed both of them, though Song of Silence was by far my favorite
of the two. Right now, I’m reading Love’s
Rescue by Christine Johnson, but I’m finding that I can’t really get into
it, and I don’t know why. I’m not sure I’ll actually finish it, possibly
because I’m extremely excited to start the next book on my list—The Love Letters by Beverly Lewis.
Pondering: I don’t
really know what exactly I’m pondering at the moment. Maybe what I really long
to accomplish this summer, maybe how to make the most money to help pay for
college, maybe what I want to do next with my blog and my fiction writing. I
haven’t really gotten nearly as far as I would like on developing my craft as
far as fiction is concerned, so maybe that’s something I’m really ponding this
month: how to become a better writer.
Sipping: At the
moment, I’m sipping water. Which is exactly
what I want to be sipping. Not really. What I wish I was sipping is a nice,
tall glass of peach tea. I’m obsessed with
peach tea. I love it. But I haven’t had it in forever, and I’m dying to drive
right over to the store and pick some up right now. However, I think I’ll save
it as a reward for getting a lot done rather than being lazy this month. While I
love peach tea more than any other kind, and possibly any other beverage out
there, I also know it’s probably not the best for me and therefore have somehow
restrained from always having some on hand. It would make for a fabulous summer
treat though!
Going: As I write
this, I’ve mostly just been going back and forth to work and other places like
that, but just this past weekend I was in Hamilton Branch for a wonderful vacation
with my immediate—and some of my extended—family. It was so relaxing and
peaceful, and I know I had an amazing time. We’ll be going to Edisto together
later this summer as well, and I can’t wait!
Well,
that’s what I’m up to this May! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the month
holds!
Happy
May!
