Blog Relaunch!

The rest of my new journey is finally here! As I stated in one of my earlier posts, I have just gotten my own website where I will be selling my very own subscription book boxes, but the blog aspect of my website was still in the works. However, I finally have everything put together, so as of today I am relaunching my blog on my new website!
I will still have this blog open and will often link some of the posts here to my posts on my new blog, so feel free to still explore here whenever you wish! But for now, check out this post on my new blog!

EDIT

Unfortunately, this relaunch has been postponed just a bit. I have had SO many issues with this new website! Therefore, I am having to find another host for my blog that will make this transition easier. But keep your eyes out for the real relaunch soon!

The Recommended Reads Box Website Is Live!

Hello again, friends!

I have some wonderful news! My new website is now up and running! Other than one little snag (the blog is still giving me fits so it is unfortunately not live just yet) my brand new subscription box website has just rolled out and is ready for you to explore! You can find my new website here, so please feel free to check it out! Soon I will be relaunching my blog there as well, but for right now that is still under some serious construction. Until the relaunch happens, I will continue to post all about my new adventures here, and once that has launched I will share that with you here as well!
I’m still learning how to do this business-owner-thing, so if you have any advice I would greatly appreciate it! I hope you check out my boxes, and even if they aren’t for you, you can always share my website with a friend who might like them! Hopefully the longer I work on this, the better they will be, so I hope you’ll join me on this journey and give me any feedback you see fit to share. I love to read, and I think books are wonderful things, and that’s why I can’t wait to share my love of them with the world!
Happy reading!

More About Recommended Reads

Hello friends!
As those of you who read my post from last week know, I announced that I am going to be relaunching my blog on another site and will begin selling my very own subscription box! (You can find the post I’m referring to here.) However, in that post, I announced that everything would be rolling out on a Tuesday, which would be today actually, but unfortunately that is not the case. Technology is super complicated, and for some reason it decided to hate me yesterday, and that bumped my relaunch back a bit. I’ve been having some issues with really complicated technical aspects to having a website, but we are getting it all figured out! So that’s great at least. I’m hoping to still relaunch before the end of this week, and as soon as everything is ready I will share it here and on all of my social media so that you know for sure, but I just have to wait and see how long it takes the powers that be to recognize all of the changes that I have made. So, for now, I’m going to share a little bit more about my subscription boxes!
My company is called Recommended Reads, or Recommended Reads Box, and as of right now we have six different box options to choose from, like I mentioned in my other post. We have The Original Recommended Reads Box, which is a box that simply comes with your choice of either one or two books, a bookmark, and a couple of bags of tea for you to try while you read. The Original Well-Loved Books Box is mostly the same, with a bookmark and a couple of tea bags, but it comes with three gently used books that someone else has once loved before. Both of those boxes—and their deluxe versions—have a survey that goes with them. You fill out the survey as part of your purchase process, and that helps us to know your preferences so that we can recommend to you the books that you will enjoy the most when we send them to you.
That brings us to the Deluxe versions of both of those boxes, The Deluxe Recommended Reads Box and The Deluxe Well-Loved Books Box. The Deluxe Recommended Reads Box comes with one book and a bookmark, like the Original version, but it also comes with your choice of either tea, coffee, or hot chocolate, and 2-3 goodies for you to enjoy, such as soap, lotion, candles, custom decals, bath bombs, etc. The Deluxe Well-Loved Books Box is the same, it comes with 3 gently used novels and a bookmark like the original, along with your choice of beverage and 2-3 goodies.
Then, we have the last two options, which are slightly different from the ones I just mentioned. I have two different Book of the Month Boxes, the Historical and the Contemporary Edition. Both boxes are basically the same, each month I will choose a book as the Book of the Month and if you subscribe to that box you will receive that book along with some sort of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate, and 2-3 goodies that either revolve around the book that I have sent or the month you are receiving the box (such as next month’s box is a Valentine’s box so it might also contain Valentine’s Day-type goodies). The thing that makes them different is that the Historical Edition only comes with books that fall into the Historical genre and the Contemporary Edition only comes with books from the Contemporary genre, so that you can choose which one you would prefer to read. Or both, if you prefer!
I hope this has given you a little taste of what is to come, just as soon as I can get my website finally up and running! I absolutely cannot wait to share these new boxes with you, and to finally relaunch my blog. I’m still going to be writing about books, but there are also so many other things going on in my life now, especially since I’m less than for months away from finally graduation college, so I want to share about all kinds of other things as well. I hope you will follow me over to my new location once I can finally officially relaunch, and that you’ll love my new boxes as much as I do!
Happy reading!

New Year, New Adventures!

Happy New Year! I know, I know, I’m a bit late. And, I’m sure you’re honestly a little surprised to hear from me, considering the fact that I haven’t posted in weeks. I have been regretting that quite a bit recently, especially since I’ve been on Christmas break and have had a small amount of extra time on my hands. However, I’ve been using that time for other things and honestly, I think once you hear what I’ve been doing you just might like that better.

Over the past month, and even months before that, I have been working on starting a new blog, in a new location, so I’m super excited about that! I hope those of you who have actually stuck with me here on this blog will follow me to the new one, and I promise that I will be better about posting there than I have been on this one. I’ve already been working on lots of new ideas for posts—some about books, some about food, some about life—and I’ve read quite a few books since the last time I posted a review so there will be some new reviews coming your way too.

However, that’s actually not the biggest news that I want to share with you today. Not only am I starting a new blog in a brand new location, I am starting my very own website. While this new blog will be on said website, that’s not the only thing that you will find there. As of this coming Tuesday, I will be rolling out my very own book subscription box! I have been toying with the idea for over a year, and now I’m finally ready to get it started. Isn’t that so exciting?!

As of Tuesday, you will be able to go onto my brand new website (which I will link here when the time comes) and explore my new blog location and the book box subscriptions that I will finally have for sale. I am just so excited that I finally get to share this with you! I absolutely love reading (obviously) and I always love recommending books I have loved to people, so I have been thinking of a way to turn those loves into something more for quite some time. And now, it’s finally time to make that into a reality! My store, the Recommended Reads Box store, will have 6 different book box options to choose from: The Original Recommended Reads Box, the Deluxe Recommended Reads Box, the Original Well-Loved Books Box, the Deluxe Well-Loved Books Box, and two different Book of the Month Boxes, one for lovers of Contemporary fiction and one for the Historical Fiction fans. Hopefully one of those boxes sounds like something you would enjoy receiving!

There will be more information about each of my boxes on my website, and I will be sharing more and more about everything related to my boxes—and even other things—on my new blog once it rolls out next week. I really hope you’ll find me there! I can’t wait to share this with you!

Happy reading!

Must-Have February Releases

I really cannot believe it’s already February! I know that I say that every month, but really, this month went by so very quickly! I cannot believe how quickly it has flown by, especially since the school months tend to be a little bit slower for me. Either way, I am happy about it, because that means there are more books to read, and I’m even closer to summer! February brings with it Valentine’s Day as well, so here is a great list of things to ask for from your sweetheart!

Top Ten Tuesday: 2016’s Best

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is all about one of my favorite things to talk about, new books that I have absolutely loved! Today my list is full of books that have released this year, specifically the ones that I have read and are my favorites! So I’ve tried to make this list completely accurate as my top ten, but since it is so completely difficult to pick favorites, there were quite a few that didn’t make it on the list but were probably just as much my favorites as the ones that did make it. However, I can promise that every book I’ve listed is on my all-time favorites list as well, so you can be assured that I really do love them!

Must-Haves for May

Happy last day of April!!! Here are a few of the books releasing in the upcoming month that I am looking forward to, and that I believe you should definitely check out.

The Huntress of Thornbeck Forest

A beautiful maiden who poaches to feed the poor. A handsome forester on a mission to catch her. Danger and love are about to unite in Thornbeck Forest.
The margrave owns the finest hunting grounds for miles around—and Odette Menkels spends her nights poaching his deer to feed the hungry orphans of Thornbeck. By day, Odette is a simple maiden who teaches children to read, but by night this young beauty has become the secret lifeline to the poorest of the poor.
For Jorgen Hartman, the margrave’s forester, tracking down a poacher is a duty he is all too willing to perform. Jorgen inherited his post from the man who raised him…a man who was murdered at the hands of a poacher.
When Jorgen and Odette meet at the Midsummer festival and share a connection during a dance, neither has any idea that they are already adversaries.
The one man she wants is bound by duty to capture her; the one woman he loves is his cunning target… What becomes of a forester who protects a notorious poacher? What becomes of a poacher when she is finally discovered?

Melanie Dickerson is one of my all-time favorite authors, and for good reason. She writes AMAZING fairy tale retellings, all set in medieval times. The Huntress of Thornbeck Forest is a retelling of Robin Hood, only this time, Robin Hood is a girl. This book comes out TOMORROW (!!!!!!!) so now would be a great time to pick it up since it’s still on sale if you pre-order!

Tiffany Girl

As preparations for the 1893 World’s Fair set Chicago and the nation on fire, Louis Tiffany—heir to the exclusive Fifth Avenue jewelry empire—seizes the opportunity to unveil his state-of-the-art, stained glass, mosaic chapel, the likes of which the world has never seen.
But when Louis’s dream is threatened by a glassworkers’ strike months before the Fair opens, he turns to an unforeseen source for help: the female students at the Art Students League of New York. Eager for adventure, the young women pick up their skirts, move to boarding houses, take up steel cutters, and assume new identities as the “Tiffany Girls”.
Tiffany Girl is the heartwarming story of the impetuous Flossie Jane, a beautiful, budding artist who is handpicked by Louis to help complete the Tiffany chapel. Though exited to live in a boarding house when most women stayed home, she quickly finds the world is less welcoming than anticipated. From a Casanova male, to an unconventional married couple, and a condescending singing master, she takes on a colorful cast of characters to transform the boarding house into a home while racing to complete the Tiffany chapel and make a name for herself in the art world.
As challenges mount, her ambitions become threatened from an unexpected quarter: her own heart. Who will claim victory? Her dreams or the captivating boarder next door?

Tiffany Girl is another book I absolutely cannot wait to pick up. Deeanne Gist never fails to amaze me with her novels, and I am positive this one will be no exception. Plus, who doesn't love a book set in the 1890's?

Want to take a trip to the 1890's? Pick up this book here!

A Simple Prayer

Linda is no stranger to hardship. Now she dares to hope for a chance at love and a new beginning.
As the sole survivor of a buggy accident that left her orphaned at age four, Linda Zook was reluctantly raised by her Uncle Reuben. She longs to be worthy of someone, but the lasting trauma of her injuries and embittered upbringing have destroyed her self-worth. When Hannah Peterson asks her to work at the Heart of Paradise Bed & Breakfast, she’s finally able to realize some confidence.
Aaron Ebersol left the Amish community seventeen years ago when he could no longer bear the restrictions or the constant tension with his father. Despite years of unanswered letters to his parents, and the roots he’s put down in Missouri, Aaron rushes back to the Amish community of Paradise, Pennsylvania after receiving word of his mother’s stroke. Hesitant to get too close to the family he was once a part of, he decides to stay at the Heart of Paradise Bed & Breakfast. Talking with Linda allows him to explore his feelings about his family and his position in the Amish community.
As Linda and Aaron open up to each other, their feelings for one another turn into more than friendship, and Aaron must make a decision about his future as an Amish man.
Can Linda and Aaron forgive the family members who have deceived and forsaken them? And will Aaron be able to convince Linda that she is worthy of his love?

I just love stories about the Amish communities, and Amy Clipston always does a wonderful job of bringing them to life. A Simple Prayer is another novel I just cannot wait to get my hands on!

As Love Blooms

Tessa Gregory is nothing if not tenacious. Denied a position as a horticulturalist at the prestigious Como Park in Saint Paul, she is not above a little benevolent deception in order to get the park superintendent to change his mind and hire her. She plans to infiltrate the world of wealthy and influential people in hopes of drumming up financial support for a world-class conservatory. But before she can put those plans into action, she meets Reese King, a handsome gardener at Como Park—and a major distraction. Still, Reese might be the key to achieving her dream. But is his goal to help her…or capture her heart?

As you know, I have been reading the Gregory Sisters trilogy this week—the two that have already released that is—and they are already some of my favorite books. I seriously cannot wait until As Love Blooms comes out, because I am so excited to see what happens to the youngest—and most stubborn—of the Gregory girls.
Also, you can find my reviews of the first two books in the series—When Love Calls and While Love Stirs—by clicking their titles.

You can pick up any of the Gregory Sisters' novels here.

A Worthy Pursuit

A teacher on the run. A bounty hunter in pursuit. Can two enemies learn to trust each other before they both lose that they hold most dear?
Stone Hammond is the best tracker in Texas. He never comes home empty-handed. So when a wealthy railroad investor hires him to find his abducted granddaughter, Stone eagerly accepts.
Charlotte Atherton, former headmistress of Sullivan’s Academy for Exceptional Youths, will do anything to keep her charges safe, especially the orphaned girl entrusted to her care. Charlotte promised Lily’s mother she’d keep the girl away from her unscrupulous grandfather, and nothing will stop Charlotte from fulfilling that pledge. Not even the handsome bounty hunter with surprisingly honest eyes who comes looking for them.
When Miss Atherton produces documentation that shows her to be Lily’s legal guardian, Stone must reevaluate everything he’s been led to believe. Is she villain of victim?
Then a new danger forces Charlotte to trust the man sent to destroy her. Stone vows to protect what he once sought to tear apart. Besides, he’s ready to start a new pursuit: winning Charlotte’s heart.

I have read quite a few of Karen Witemeyer’s other novels, and I have to say, she is another one of my favorite authors (I say that far too much but it’s always true). I cannot wait to read her newest work, especially since the synopsis makes it sound so intriguing!

Grab a copy of this book here.

So, those are my must-have books for May! Doesn’t reading about them make you want to curl up in a chair with a good book and a cup of tea? I know that’s all I want to do, and hopefully, someday soon I can curl up with one of these!

                Happy reading!

Must-Have New Releases

Happy Friday!! I have come to the decision that on the last day of every month I will post about the books I am most looking forward to that will release the next month. Today, however, I am going to post about all the books that I cannot wait to read that have released from January until now. That is quite a few books but, even though I haven’t yet read any of them, I am positive I would recommend all of them because I am that confident about the authors that wrote them. So, if you’re looking for something new to read, you just might find something here.

Miss Harriet Peabody dreams of the day she can open up a shop selling refashioned gowns to independent working women like herself. Unfortunately, when an errand for her millinery shop job goes sadly awry due to a difficult customer, she finds herself out of an income.

Mr. Oliver Addleshaw is on the verge of his biggest business deal yet when he learns his potential partner prefers to deal with men who are settled down and wed. When Oliver witnesses his ex not-quite-fiance cause the hapless Harriet to lose her job, he tries to make it up to her by enlisting her help in making a good impression on his business partner.

Harriet quickly finds her love of fashion can't make her fashionable. She'll never truly fit into Oliver's world, but just as she's ready to call off the fake relationship, fancy dinners, and elegant balls, a threat from her past forces both Oliver and Harriet to discover that love can come in the most surprising packages.

After a Fashion by author Jen Turano is the first book in her new series A Class of Her Own, and it released on February 24th. I have read almost all of her Ladies of Distinction series, and I cannot wait to read this new release! Jen Turano does an amazing job of weaving bits of mystery into her novels, leaving you guessing until the very last page. It is nearly impossible to put her books down, and I know After a Fashion will be no exception!

Behind him, beside him, before him, the synchronized cathedral bells began to ring out.
One, two, three . . .
Then she said it first. The words his heart burst to share. I love you, Stephen. You are my true prince.
An American heiress and a crown prince seem destined to be together. Will the devastation of war keep them apart forever?
American heiress Corina Del Rey caught her prince once. But the tragedy of war kept her too long in a fog of grief. Now she’s shifting her life forward, reigniting her career as a journalist. Still, nothing can relieve her of the secret and the love she carries in her soul.
Prince Stephen of Brighton is one of the world’s most eligible bachelors and a star rugby player, trying to make sense of his life. His days in Afghanistan with the Royal Air Command will mark him forever. And he can’t shake their dark shadow.
But when his brother, King Nathaniel, confronts him with a document the prince thought long buried and forgotten, Stephen is forced to face the pain of his past and the love he left behind.
With a little heavenly help, Prince Stephen and Corina embark on a journey of truth. But when the secrets are revealed, can they overcome, move forward, and find love again?

How to Catch a Prince by Rachel Hauck is book three in her Royal Weddings series, coming after Once Upon a Prince and Princess Ever After. I read both of her previous books in this series, and absolutely loved each of them. She did a fabulous job of bringing her stories to life, weaving wonderful tales of princes and princesses as dreamy as a Disney princess story but so realistic you’d wish you were the heroine. I just know I’ll love How to Catch a Prince, and I’m sure you will too!

On a hot day in 1737 in Rotterdam, Anna Konig reluctantly sets foot on the Charming Nancy, a merchant ship that will carry her and her fellow Amish believers across the Atlantic to start a new life. As the only one in her community who can speak English, she feels compelled to go. But Anna is determined to complete this journey and return home—assuming she survives. She’s heard horrific tales of ocean crossings and worse ones of what lay ahead in the New World. But fearfulness is something Anna has never known.
Ship’s carpenter Bairn resents the somber people—dubbed peculiars by the deckhands—who fill the lower deck of the Charming Nancy. All Bairn wants to do is to put his lonely past behind him, but that irksome and lovely lass Anna and her people keep intruding on him.
Delays, storm, illness, and diminishing provisions test the mettle and patience of everyone on board. When Anna is caught in a life-threatening situation, Bairn makes a discovery that shakes his entire foundation. But has the revelation come too late?

Anna’s Crossing by Suzanne Woods Fisher is the first book in her Amish Beginnings series, all about how the American Amish settlements got started. Suzanne Woods Fisher does an amazing job of weaving wonderful tales of the Amish, and I just know her new novel will be chock full of interesting Amish facts that will teach you more than you ever knew before. I cannot wait to read this story!

Will Sarah leave her dying father’s side for the only man she’s ever loved? And what plans are forming in the jealous heart of Ben Croftner?

A Heart’s Disguise by Colleen Coble is the first novel in her new A Journey of the Heart series, based just after the civil war. She always does an amazing job of adding mysterious themes to her novels, and they are always sure to be something you won’t be able to put down. Check it out, it released March 3rd, so it shouldn’t be hard to find!

Twelve years of marriage, 4,000 square feet of dream house, and a handsome husband. The whirling tornado that cuts down the life she’s built drops Jessie onto the sandy beach of Malibu with a thud, penniless and alone. As Jessie tries to rebuild, she realizes she can’t move on, not without answers. Reluctantly, Jessie turns to beach bum/private investigator Danny Callahan for help. But is she staking her future success and happiness…on a ring and a prayer?

On a Ring and a Prayer by Sandra D. Bricker is the first book in her new Jessie Stanton series, and is sure to keep you laughing until the end. Sandra D. Bricker is amazing at writing hilarious stories chock full of fun, laughter, and love that will never disappoint. I am positive On a Ring and a Prayer will be no exception.

Plans for a secure future and the sweetness of young romance hang in the balance when Alexa and Anna-Grace have to face that their secrets are interconnected, binding the two in ways they could not have imagined. They must trust in a loving, heavenly Father and His plan for their futures.

When Grace Sings by Kim Vogel Sawyer is the second book in her Zimmerman Restoration Trilogy, coming after When Mercy Rains. It is a wonderful story full of hidden secrets and sweet romances that I cannot wait to read.

Marlena needed time to let things sink in. It was beyond her how all this could possibly work out--adding the care of an infant to her daily routine. Fortunately, it would just be until Luella returned home from the hospital and was stronger.
No more than a couple weeks, surely.

Marlena Wenger's life takes an unexpected turn on the day she learns she must care for her estranged sister's baby. Spending the summer in Brownstown, Pennsylvania, to assist her Mennonite grandmother, and miles from Marlena's Old Order Amish beau, she feels out of her element in nearly every respect. Yet Marlena determines to do her best and stay focused on her future, even as those hopes become drastically altered.
I have been anticipating the release of Beverly Lewis’s The Love Letters for quite a while now, and the fact that I have to say I haven’t read it yet pains me a little. I absolutely love Beverly Lewis’s work; I have read almost every single book she has published and have enjoyed every one. Obviously I need to pick up this one!

You can pick it up here.
