Today’s
Top Ten Tuesday is supposed to be Ten Books I Enjoyed Recently That Weren’t My
Typical Genre, but I found that I didn’t really have very many books to add to
that list, maybe because I’m a little stuck in my ways and tend to stick to the
same genre. Either way, I just decided to run with one of their previous
topics, going with one about books I loved but never reviewed. This list could
actually be fairly long, since I have been reading for quite some time but only
recently started reviewing novels, but I slimmed it down by only using books on
my all-time favorites list. So, here are some of my absolute favorite books
that I just haven’t reviewed yet.
Finally and Forever
by Robin Jones Gunn
The fourth book in
Robin’s Katie Weldon series, coming
after Peculiar Treasures, On a Whim, and Coming Attractions.
What was she thinking?
Katie Weldon wonders if she was
crazy to spontaneously fly off to Africa on a mission trip. Suddenly she is
dealing with a new culture, a world she’s never experienced—and Eli, a friend
who is quickly becoming much more. It’s all overwhelming…and exciting. As her
life turns topsy-turvy, however, she begins to think this might be exactly what
she needs. Here, God might give her a glimpse into His will for her life. But just
as Kenya and its people find a place in her heart, and her relationship with
Eli begins to get serious, Katie is faced with unanswered questions from her
past and unresolved issues with Eli. Is she really headed down the same path
into the future he is? It doesn’t look like it. Why can’t she finally and
forever settle into a set direction? Living in this new and captivating place, one
thing she knows for sure: anything might be possible.
Unlocked by Karen
Kingsbury
Before you take a stand… you’ve
got to take a chance.
Holden Harris is an
eighteen-year-old locked in a prison of autism. Despite his quiet ways and
quirky behaviors, Holden is very happy and socially normal—on the inside, in a
private world all his own. In reality, he is bullied at school by kids who only
see that he is very different.
Ella Reynolds is part of the ‘in’
crowd. A cheerleader and star of the high school drama production, her life
seems perfect. When she catches Holden listening to her rehearse for the school
play, she is drawn to him…the way he is drawn to the music.
Then, Ella makes a dramatic
discovery—she and Holden were best friends as children. Frustrated by the way
Holden is bullied, and horrified at the indifference of her peers, Ella decides
to take a stand against the most privileged and popular kids at school. Including
her boyfriend, Jake.
Ella believes miracles can
happen in the unlikeliest places, and that just maybe an entire community might
celebrate from the sidelines. But will Holden’s praying mother and the efforts
of Ella and a cast of theater kids be enough to unlock the prison that contains
Holden? This time, friendship, faith, and the power of a song must be strong
enough to open the doors to the miracle Holden needs.

to make her niece more feminine—in other words, just like Whitney, Emily’s
perfect cousin. But when Emily hears the engine of a 1970 Dodge Challenger, and
sees the cute gearhead, Zander, next door, things seem to be looking up. But even
working alongside Zander can’t completely fix the hole in Emily’s life. Ever since
her mom died, Emily hasn’t been able to pray, and no one—not even Zander—seems to
understand. But sometimes the help you need can come from the person you least
expect.

First Date by Krista
McGee
The last thing Addy Davidson
wants is to be on a reality TV show where the prize is a prom date with the
President’s son.
She’s focused on her schoolwork
so she can get a scholarship to an Ivy League college, uncomfortable in the
spotlight, never been on a date, and didn’t even audition for it.
But she got selected anyway.
So she does her best to get
eliminated on the very first show. Right before she realizes that the President’s
son is possibly the most attractive guy she has ever seen in person,
surprisingly nice, and seemingly unimpressed by the 99 other girls who are
throwing themselves at him.
Addy’s totally out of her
comfort zone but that may be right where God can show her all that she was
meant to be.
